    On Arrival Visas are available at Nepal's entrance points for travelers. Travelers from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, and Syria, on the other hand, are required to obtain a visa through their nearest Nepalese diplomatic post (embassy/consulate).

    To confirm the trek/tour package, we want a deposit of at least 20% of the total tour/trek fee. The remaining balance must be paid when you arrive in Nepal. We take Visa, Maestro, MasterCard, American Express, and other major credit cards. The total cost of a Bhutan and Tibet tour must be paid in full at the time of booking.

    We strongly advise you to purchase a SIM card for reliable internet access throughout Nepal. Nepal Telecom (owned by the government) and NCELL (owned by the private sector) are the two main SIM card providers in Nepal. It is preferable to get a SIM card at an airport, where staff will assist with activation and data plan purchases. If you have a SIM card, it will be easier for you to contact us and locate our airport agent.

    You can charge your electrical devices at hotels and lodges because there are no power outages. In the Himalayan region, however, hotel owners may levy a nominal fee.

    Passport & Visa for Salalah Tour Package

    To start your journey, it would be beneficial if your passport were still valid. Please confirm that you have two to six blank visa pages in your passport and that it will be valid for at least six months after the date you wish to return. The Salalah Tour Package includes your visa, so you won’t have to worry about obtaining it separately.

    Local Time

    Oman Standard Time (IST) runs 4 hours ahead of GMT.

    Electricity

    The electrical system in Oman runs at frequencies of 50 Hz and voltages between 220 and 240 volts. Square three-pin plugs are the standard.

    Language

    Arabic serves as the official language in Oman. While people also speak Swahili and Baluchi, English is commonly used, especially in business contexts.

    Money Exchange, Credit Cards, & ATMs

    The Omani Rial (OMR), divided into 1,000 baiza, is the local currency. You’ll find banknotes in denominations of 50, 20, 10, 5, and 1 OMR, as well as 500, 250, 200, and 100 baiza, with coins valued at 50, 25, 10, and 5 baiza.

    Some places may only accept American Express, but most accept major credit and debit cards practically everywhere. ATMs are widely available across Oman.

    Banking Hours

    Banks open from Saturday to Wednesday between 08:00 and 12:00 and on Thursdays from 08:00 to 11:30.

    Clothing

    For all seasons, wear air-conditioned spaces, cool evenings, and lightweight cotton clothing with a warm shawl for trips to the mountains.

    Communication & Emails

    Oman’s country code is 968. Mobile coverage varies, but roaming agreements with international providers exist. Internet cafes are common, and airmail to Western Europe usually takes 3 to 4 days.

    Weather & Climate

    The best time to visit Oman is from November to mid-March, when cooler air enhances the mountain landscapes and daytime temperatures average around 25°C, ensuring a pleasant experience. From May to August, the heat and haze in Oman can become oppressive.

    The Khareef, or rainy season from mid-June to late August in southern Oman, attracts many visitors to Dhofar to enjoy the green hills under light rain. This greenery typically fades by mid-September.

    Northern Oman experiences its peak tourist season from November to mid-March.

    Roughly, prices for drinks bought from street shops are as follows:

    Non-Muslims may consume alcohol in Oman’s bars, restaurants, clubs, and hotels. Public smoking is forbidden, and those under 20 cannot buy cigarettes or smoke in designated areas. Public consumption of food, beverages, or tobacco during Ramadan is strictly banned.

    Health

    Travelers coming from affected regions may need to provide cholera and yellow fever certificates, although Oman does not require vaccinations for entry. Treat all water sources outside the capital as potentially contaminated, boiling or sterilizing water for drinking, brushing teeth, or making ice. Bottled water is advisable across Oman. Food from major supermarkets is usually safe. Before consumption outside the capital, individuals should boil unpasteurized milk. Powdered or canned milk is a safer alternative. Ensure dairy products come from boiled milk, and always eat well-cooked meat and fish and peel fruits.

    Local Values and Traditions

    In Oman, a Muslim country, alcohol is usually only available in hotels. Drinking and being intoxicated in public are punishable by law.

    Being modest in both attire and conduct is highly regarded, particularly during Ramadan. Smoking, eating, or drinking in public from sunrise to sunset during this period is considered disrespectful.

    In Oman, people commonly greet each other with handshakes, and they welcome small gifts that represent your company or country. Outside of hotels, dress modestly. Men should wear pants and sleeve shirts, while women should wear long dresses or skirts that cover their shoulders. Avoid tight clothes outside hotel restaurants, do not wear shorts in public, and reserve beachwear for the beach. Do not collect seashells, abalone, corals, crayfish, or turtle eggs, and avoid littering.

    Public smoking is generally discouraged, and you should heed any ‘No Smoking’ signs. In Oman, people perceive offensive language, rude gestures, and public affection as disrespectful. Although Oman welcomes visitors from the West, it is important to observe local laws and customs. Never forget to heed the warnings marked “No Photography” and to obtain permission before snapping images of people or their property.
