Everest Base Camp Trek Permit – Sagarmatha National Park Permit

Every trekker requires Sagarmatha National Park permit to enter the premises of Sagarmatha National Park. As most trails of the Everest Region lie within the national park territory, you have to have Sagarmatha National Park permit.

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit Cost – Everest Base Camp Permit Cost

  • Sagarmatha National Park entry permit fee for foreigners: 3,000 NPR (approximately US $28).
  • Sagarmatha National Park entry permit fee for SAARC nationals: 1,500 NPR

Where to get this Everest Base Camp Trek Permit?

Trekkers can obtain the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit from Nepal Tourism Board Office on Pradarshani Marg, Kathmandu, Tel: +977 1 4256909.

Or you can get the permit at Monjo, which is more convenient than getting it from Kathmandu. At Monjo, a national park office is Sagarmatha National Park’s entry point.

Additional Permit for Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri is a classical route to Everest Base Camp. If you plan to trek via Jiri, you must obtain an additional permit for Gaurishankar Conservation Area. This permit has to be obtained in Kathmandu by Nepal Tourism Board. This will cost NPR 3000 Per Person.

Required documents for Everest Base Camp Trek Permits

You need a copy of your passport and the entrance fee to get the entry permit for Sagarmatha National Park and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality. And for Gaurishankar Conservation Area Project Entry Permit, you will need to fill up a short form and provide two recent passport-sized photos.

Note: If you hire a trekking agency to do the Everest Base Camp Trek, your agency will obtain all the Everest Base Camp Trek permits.
